Travels with George

My mom and her friend Joy are headed on vacation up to Nova Scotia. They stopped by my place in NYC on their way up and then the three of us headed up to the Providence, RI Water Fire, Mystic, CT Seaport, and then out to Cape Cod. All were interesting and I hope to post a few photos from this short little trip soon.

My mom also bought 'George', her new GPS navigator map thingy for the car. Now I love technology as much as the next person, but I just dont understand these GPS units. My brother James has one as well and brought it on our trip to Yellowstone last winter. He trucked that thing all the way across country for it to tell us to drive 8 miles down a straight road to our hotel in tiny little Bozeman, MT. Gee, I think I could have figured that out without the $900 gadet and the 10 minutes it took to hook the thing up in the car.

Needless to say, 'George' isn't much better. He tried send mom through downtown Manhattan at 5pm on Friday evening and then wanted her to drive through downtown Boston despite multiple tunnel closures in that city.

I think I will stick with regular paper maps. They work just fine for me.
